The RUDUM, the Rudry Mountain Ultra Marathon Half, is a brand new version of our favourite race along the Rhymney Valley Ridgway, the RIDUM. Unique enough to deserve its own name, the new race has been created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Pegasus Ultra Running.

RUDRY

Rudry is a little village with some big views on its doorstep. From the woodland trails of Rudry Common to the paths over nearby Caerphilly Mountain, there’s plenty to explore in the hills around Cardiff. Expect leafy tracks, open hilltops and climbs that make the city feel a world away — with plenty of excuses to stop, catch your breath and claim you’re just checking how far you can see.

Point of interest – CASTELL COCH

Castell Coch brings a little fairy-tale magic to the woods above Cardiff. With its round towers and pointed roofs peeking through the trees, it’s a sight worth pausing for as you explore the surrounding trails.

Why do we use plotaroute?

We use plotaroute.com for supplying our maps as this means we can provide last minute updates that are readily available and allow you to download them in the best format for your navigation device.

Note: plotaroute.com does have pop-ups. Pegasus Ultra Running will never charge you for downloading or accessing our route files

MANDATORY Kit

  • Running shoes or hiking boots (trail shoes recommended).
  • Waterproof jacket.
  • Water bottle or similar (1-litre minimum).
  • Mobile phone (fully charged).
  • GPX route downloaded to a device (GPS, phone or watch).
  • Head torch or similar light source.
  • Survival bag.
  • A reusable cup – suitable for hot and cold drinks.
  • Backpack, race vest or similar to carry all other mandatory equipment.
  • More details are provided in the race manual.
